Homework Expectations:

Students have homework Monday through Thursday. They are expected to spend approximately 40-45 minutes a night on homework and return to class the next day with their completed assignment. Below is the homework schedule for an average week. Students have two parts to their homework:
1.) content assignment - students will have an assignment that reinforces the content that they have been working on in class. The content assignment is due in class the following day.
2.) reading assignment - for 20 minutes, students read a self-selected text Monday through Thursday. A parent/guardian is asked to sign the student planner each night to verify that the student completed the reading. The planner is due in class each day.

Spelling: a new spelling packet is given to students on Monday. They will complete assignments in the packet in class and at home and have a test on Friday. Students need to keep their packet in their Take-Home Folder during the week and turn it all in on Friday. The spelling words for each week can be found on the above spelling lists link.
Progress Report: A homework progress report will be sent home each month showing the percentage of homework turned in for the month. A parent/guardian is asked to sign the progress report and return it to class. Each month, the students with 100% homework will be recognized in class and have their names published above and in the class newsletter.
